About MADEXP

Hello, and welcome

I am Lucian-Ioan Papadopol, an Italian electronics enthusiast, technical educator, software developer and licensed amateur radio operator. MADEXP is my personal space for sharing practical experiments, original circuits, software, technical notes and the occasional unusual machine rescued from another era.

I have always enjoyed the point where theory meets the workbench: a circuit becomes a functioning instrument, a few lines of code become a useful tool, or a measurement raises a better question than the one that started the experiment. This website brings those experiences together and makes them available to readers who share the same curiosity.

My professional background

I trained in electrotechnics and industrial automation at the E. Mattei Technical Institute in Urbino. My professional career began in practical installation and maintenance work, progressing through telecommunications systems, data cabling, network equipment and field coordination.

2007–2023 · Technical and industrial work
Installation and maintenance of electrical, telecommunications and data-network infrastructure, including several years as a team leader.

2023–2024 · Technical education
Teaching assignments at IPSIA G. Benelli in Pesaro and radiotechnics courses with the ARI amateur-radio association in Pesaro.

Since 2024 · Secondary-school teacher
Teaching technical subjects, laboratory activities, robotics and systems at ISISS P. Gobetti in Morciano di Romagna.

My daily work combines hands-on engineering with programming and education. My practical skills include C/C++, C# and Java, Unix/Linux systems, electronic assembly and SMD soldering, laboratory instrumentation, Siemens S7 PLCs and industrial robotics.

Selected MADEXP projects

A few examples of the hardware and software work documented on this website.

Scientific instrumentation

Cubino + Eu152

A compact gamma-spectroscopy ecosystem joining scintillation-detector hardware, audio-based acquisition and analysis software.

Radio engineering

SequencerQT

A programmable PTT sequencer and configuration software for coordinating components in a radio station.

Retrocomputing

MU90 MPO Bridge

A hardware and software bridge connecting Elektronika MK-90 memory modules to a modern Linux computer.

Publications & technical writing

Writing has long been an important part of my projects. I have contributed articles to specialist Italian electronics and amateur-radio publications, including RadioRivista, and have shared technical preprints about experimental electronic design. Titles of Italian-language magazine articles are retained in their original form to make them easy to identify in printed indexes.

Why I share this work

I believe that a good technical project should be understandable and reproducible. Schematics, measurement results, design decisions and working source code are often as interesting as the finished instrument.

MADEXP is an evolving collection of that work: successful experiments, ambitious prototypes, lessons learned and ideas worth returning to. I hope some of it helps others build, study or simply enjoy engineering.
